While not specifically a robotic development, it doesn’t take much imagination to envision the marriage of this technology with robotics.
Southern Methodist University of Dallas has teamed up with DARPA and built a retinal scanner which could theoretically scan every eye in an unaware crowd… a moving crowd.. in dim light… where eyes are partially obstructed. (If the crowd were moving in single file.)
Called “Smart-Iris,” the system only needs to scan a portion of the eye to get a reading.
